In 1993, MacKenzie River Pizza Company brought a new taste sensation to Bozeman, Montana, with its truly gourmet pizza. Now, with 12 stores and more than 600 employees statewide, MacKenzie River Pizza is dishing up something else new: Phoenix POS from FireFly Technologies.

"We wanted a computer system that would allow our central office to access individual store information quickly and easily," explains Brad Ridgeway, senior regional and vice president of operations. "Then we heard about Phoenix POS from FireFly Technologies."

Technology the Way They Like It

"Over the past year, we installed Phoenix POS in six of our stores and will put the system in the other six stores. We do table-service, takeout, and delivery, and Phoenix works great for all types of service. It caters directly to what we're doing, from gourmet pizza to pasta.

"Since the system is Web-based, we can easily customize the menu screens and screen saver the way we want. We can put our logo on the screen saver or download a picture of a food item for use on the order-taking screen.

"We like Phoenix's manager report screen; instead of a dozen pages of data, we get two or three pages of useful information. The daily sales summary and labor reports are especially helpful. We can download each store's performance. In fact, we can pull sales information from previous days, months, even years. Phoenix POS is getting us away from the paper trail; all the information is right on the computer.

"In addition, certain functions, such as voiding orders and comping meals are in the manager's control."

"At the store level, managers and employees quickly pick up on the system. It's user friendly: they can complete orders in fewer steps and with no mistakes. Receipts are easy to read. Phoenix really enhances customer service."

"Phoenix POS is a reliable system that rarely goes down. And when there is a snag, it's quickly resolved. Technical support does a fabulous job, especially since they can directly log onto our system over the Internet to help with configuration or provide updates. That was a big selling point with us."
