"Phoenix POS Is a User-Friendly System Supported by User-Friendly People."

As "Kansas City's Great Little Place for Pizza," Waldo Pizza is known for fantastic service and great food. When the store's decade-old POS system crashed for the last time, owner Phil Bourne and IT manager Darren Fox turned to another company known for excellent customer service—FireFly Technologies.

"We received great technical support when we switched from our old system to Phoenix POS, which confirmed to me that we had made the right choice," says Darren. "Plus, Phoenix is an evolving, growing system. The suggestions we make often show up as features in a new release of the software."

Flexible Menus for the Way You Do Business
Waldo Pizza at a Glance
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
# of Stores: 2
Service Type: 50% table service, 25% pickup, 25% delivery.

"We have a very large menu—130 bottles of beer, 20 beers on tap, 65 toppings, and four kinds of crust. We let our customers order a pizza just about any way they want, from five toppings on ¼ of a pizza to three different toppings on another ¼. Phoenix can handle any order variation that we throw at it.

"Our old system only had eight menu screens, while Phoenix has a limitless number. As soon as we switched systems, I doubled the number of beers we offer. Now we have 42 menu screens. We use the linked menu feature to click on different menu screens, which reduces visual clutter and scrolling."

Control and Ease of Use
"We also do lots of coupons and discounts, and give every nonprofit a 50% discount. I really like the way we can control coupon usage in the Phoenix system.

"Phoenix is very user-friendly; it has the same feel as any other Web-based technology that our younger employees use, so they learn very quickly."

Reliability in a High-Volume Store
"We have a large operation, up to 500 tickets on some days. Our store is configured with 11 terminals, two bars, and numerous printers. Even with all of that, Phoenix is a reliable system backed by technical support that helps us resolve issues quickly."

Reports and Features for Real-Life Managers
"As store manager, I rely on the numerous reports Phoenix provides, such as the Store Summary and Item Sales Reports. I can track beer and wine sales better than before, and I know what to bring back. We can do the same thing for toppings, too. I especially like that I can import this data into Excel.

"We love the payroll export feature, which saves Phil, the owner, a full day's work every week. Instead of entering data by hand into our payroll software, we can pull it directly from the Phoenix system.

"Phoenix's job requirements feature also helps us stay compliant with local laws. Our drivers are now required to show valid dates for their driver's licenses and insurance. Servers are required to do the same with liquor and food handler cards."

Checking Up on Customers
"We have 20,000 distinct records on our customer database. I love the full-search feature that lets me query by address. I can combine records and see, for example, if there are several names at the same address. This helps us cut down on prank orders.

"The customer database has also dramatically reduced the number of bad checks, thanks to the customer notes feature and the ability to flag problem customers. Phoenix has saved us time, money, and product."
