"Phoenix POS Gives Me Control Over My Growing Business."
Jonathan Bailey knows his pizza. He especially knows Mountain Mike's Pizza, based in central California. A supervisor over seven franchise locations, John oversees every aspect of the operation, from customer service, training, quality assurance, and cleanliness. Installing Phoenix Point-of-Sale from FireFly Technologies nearly 18 months ago has given him control insideand outsideof the stores.
"I compared Mountain Mike's two preferred POS vendorsABS and Phoenix POSand found for our operation that Phoenix had better features. After more than a decade using a DOS-based system, I can finally relax knowing that Phoenix's hardware redundancy will prevent a complete system crash if we have a hard-drive failure on a busy Friday night.
"We were also looking for increased security, better labor management, faster order taking, remote access, tighter coupon controls, and great technical support. Phoenix had it all. Plus, we wanted a company that was continually improving their product. I reviewed FireFly's release notes and liked the pace of system improvements/enhancements."
Technical Support and Great Ideas
"Since Phoenix was new to us, I knew technical support would be critical. The technicians have answered my questions quickly and, if needed, found a workaround until an issue could be resolved. Plus, they're very receptive to my ideas for improving the system."
Those California Labor Laws
"In California, strict labor laws dictate that an employee has a paid 10-minute break after working a certain number of hours. With our old system, we'd have to track down the employees to make sure we weren't paying for extra-long breaks. But the Phoenix system automatically switches the employee to 'unpaid' status after 10 minutes. If an employee takes a 15-minute break, he doesn't get paid for those five minutes. It saves us time and money."
Unclear Customer? Caller-ID Can Help
"We have a lot of customers who are difficult to understand because of language barriers, age, or background noise. The caller ID makes it easier to verify the critical data from these customers and get the order right."
Remote Access for Onsite Control
Since I oversee seven stores, I can't be everywhere at once. Phoenix lets me add a coupon or employee to the system without making a trip to the store. We also have wireless access in our Phoenix locations, so I can set up my laptop to take orders if needed."
Relaxed about the Friday-night Rush
"Phoenix is very reliable. Since installing our first Phoenix system nearly 18 months ago, we've had no server problems. On Fridays, up to 25 percent of our business can come within an hour. We can rely on Phoenix to step up and help take care of all those customers."
Secure about Security
"With our old system, our employees could use manager employee numbers to authorize voids or payouts. Now, they're required to clock into Phoenix using passwordswhich managers can change at any time. Phoenix ensures only the right people have access to critical management functions."
Managing the Marketing
"Local non-profit groups sell Mountain Mike's coupon books that have special offers, such as buy one large pizza, get the second large free. For all those orders we charge an additional $1 delivery fee. Phoenix is set up so the coupon won't work unless that extra delivery charge has been added. It's a great money-saver."
Less Hassle at Lunchtime...and Anytime
"Finding the daily specials or comps in our DOS-based system became a text hunt. Order takers would search through multiple screens to find the right button. But Phoenix automatically applies coupons to all the daily specials.
"Before, all the pizzas had to be on the pizza page and drinks on the drink page. Taking orders was a hassle. Phoenix simplifies our menu with its 'mix-and-match' menu screen. The lunch buffet, drinks, and lunch coupons are all on the same screen. Order taking is so much faster with Phoenix.
"We have nine toppings on our specialty pizzas, where other chains only have about five. That's a lot of toppings for our order takers to remember. But Phoenix lists the toppings on the side of the screen. To customize an order, an employee just has to tag that item to remove it. It's so simple."
