FireFly releases comprehensive Inventory module for Phoenix Point-of-sale

Easy to use, up-to-the-minute food costing designed to meet the sophisticated needs of pizza operators

Food cost is obviously one of the biggest areas to focus on improved profitability in the restaurant. But without an effective method of tracking inventory usage, and without timely information, it's hard to do much to control food costs.

That's about to change for Phoenix users with the release of the Inventory module for Phoenix. Comprehensive ingredient and recipe tracking provides users with at-a-glance food cost and profit margin % for every item they sell. In addition, users can easily generate purchase orders based on ingredient warning levels, e-mail or fax those purchase orders to vendors, and track receipt of every ingredient.

Sophistication Needed for Pizza

"This means we can accurately track the complexities of ingredients varying by topping count and by order type, to ensure a high level of accuracy."

Up to the minute data

One of the biggest advantages of the Phoenix system is that inventory data is constantly updated, so operators can quickly see the theoretical vs. actual ingredient usage at any time throughout their day, or even remotely from a home or office.

"Even if you are tracking just a few items, Phoenix lets you keep a handle on them on a hourly basis, so you can identify problems when they start," commented Holscher.

Phoenix also uses the FIFO (First In First Out) method of accounting, which is unique for a computerized system but more accurately reflects the real world of the restaurant, where the first batch of an ingredient in is used first. This ensures more precise cost tracking.
